This is my first time participating in the Bloggy Giveaway carnival. Last time I won something so I thought that this time I would give something away myself!
How it works is really simple, you leave a comment about one thing that you do to help save your family money. I will then randomly choose a winner on April 27th. What do you win? You win the book 1001 Ways To Cut Your Expenses by Jonathan D. Pond.
You don't have to be a blogger to win, just make sure that you leave an email address so I can contact you if you win! Because of the cost of shipping I am going to have to limit this to giveaway to U.S. participants only.
That's it, pretty simple! Just don't forget to leave a comment about one thing you do to help save your family money (no "please enter me," or "I want to win," etc.)--if you don't you won't be entered to win.
Also don't forget to check out my other blogs for more chances to win more FREE stuff!

Oh I would love to read this. I save a ton of money by shopping at WinCo- I don't do coupons and run around to other stores. Just shop at an inexpensive store and buy store brands.
since i bought a car yesterday, this might come in handy to help off set the car payment... :D
I plan all my meals for the week and stick to my list at the store. I shop at Aldi as much as possible...a week of groceries for $50 totally rocks.
thanks!!
Hello, I usually only buy clothing when it is at almost its' lowest markdown! For the most part, this really helps. Please enter me in your drawing. Many thanks, Cindi

i could use this!
thanks for the giveaway
I use coupons like a madwoman and always stick to my list! Thanks, i'd love to read this!
We made a pact not to eat out AT all for a month....and miraculously our bill all got paid on time. Go figure.
I'd LOVE to have a thousand other ways....maybe we could start saving.
I save a lot of money by never paying full price for clothes. I only shop yard sales and sales.

I don't buy clothing at retail prices - I am strictly thrift store and garage sales.
I try to save by using CVS ECBs, shopping at ALDI, using coupons/sales to their best advantage...
I use a TON Of coupons.. and shop at the commisary all that I can.
I am running a bloggy party right now too with tons of prizes! Come check us out!

This would be so very helpful! I would love to get my hands on this!
We just downsized from 2800 sf to 1600. Major savings!
I love saving money by bargain shopping and using coupons. :)
Great giveaway! Thanks for offering! I am a major couponer and my favorite thing to do is see how much "free or nearly free" stuff I can get by combining coupons and sale prices!

get stuff from freecycle and coupons
Wow, I could use that book! I would have to say the best thing I do to save my family money is stick to a meal-plan when grocery shopping. It's amazing how much I save when I plan ahead.
We create a budget at the beginning of each month and stick to it. Any overages comes out of our short term savings which we use to buy things we really want but fall outside our monthly budget - like a new t.v. - when you're driving by Sonic and you think..man some tator tots and a lemon berry slush sure do sound good, but you know it's not "in the budget" then you ask yourself is this worth the $6 that is alloted to the T.V. fund? and you keep driving ;)
We bought a 4-pack of cute cloth napkins at the dollar store (for, you know, a dollar), and stopped buying paper napkins altogether. Small one-time expense, and we're not spending money on a new package of napkins every time we shop.
I buy designer things on Ebay or at Filene's basement only...I don't have a family but I still need to save myself money anyway I can! Also I order water when I go out to eat! Thanks!
I coupon and comparison shop. I look through the grocery ads to the three stores near us (all within a 5 minute drive from my house along the same route) and plan my "attach" seeing what I have coupons for, where the stuff I need is the cheapest, what I can get free with double coupons... Then I make a spreadsheet with each item and the store it's at.
We rarely purchase anything at full price. We shop sales, stock up, and sometimes do without until something goes on sale.
Most of what we do to save money is actually what we *don't* do. (As in... we don't splurge on tons of junkfood, we don't shop at fancy stores, etc.) A couple of things spring to mind that we actively do, though. One is that I recently started giving my husband home hair cuts. I was nervous at first (I could see me messing up royaly and him still having to go to work!), but it worked out so well that even his mother was pleased!
Another thing we do is to shop for most of the children's clothes at thrift stores, flea markets and garage sales. The kids grow so fast that it just seems a waste to buy retail for something that isn't going to fit them in a week!
Thank you for your giveaway!
so need this book...terrible at cutting costs..my idea of saving money is when it's on sale buy it
I make most of our food from scratch, it saves money AND it's healthier!
Meal planning and no impluse shopping!
We have recently started cooking more at home instead of going out to eat or through the drive in so far its working. Great sounding book.
palmersf(at)bellsouth(dot)net
I really need a book like this in my life....we are a very wasteful family!
I am totally a coupon clipper! Saving money makes me happy! Thanks for the giveaway...would love to read that book! Then I'd pass it along so someone else could save!
mnatherson(at)comcast(dot)net
I thing I do is double recipes when I cook and freeze one. Buying in bulk really helps grocery expenses.

I have started CVSing and that has saved us tons on diapers.
I use Dave Ramsey's methods to save money already! I would love to win this! Thanks for the giveaway.
Come enter mine for $25 for ebay!
coupons, coupons, coupons...
Cooking at home, need to do this more tho.
I shop consignment and outlet stores. It saves us an enourmous amount on baby clothes.
I menu plan and cook at home to save a little money.
I just recently switched to using cloth napkins, and stopped buying napkins or paper towels. I've saved so much it's unbelievable!
Lately I have started doing all the CVS and Walgreens deals along with clipping coupons and I have gotten tons of toiletry items for practically free!
I started using cloth diapers. They work the same as disposables since they have velcro and no need for pins and covers, the only extra work is the laundry, and let me tell you, with 7 kids, two extra loads a week does not add to my work load.
I've been trying to be extra careful when making out my grocery list to ensure that we use what we have on hand and buy only what we need. I was amazed at how many "impulse" purchases I was making with each grocery trip!
SOunds simple but I clip coupons! It really does save money, but I could really use this book!
Coupons!
All clothes are washed in cold water. They are just as clean, and the gas bill is cheaper
I buy drinks for the kids from the grocery store & then use a cooler for when we go out. Saves a lot of money since the kids seem to always be starving & dying of thirst while we are out!
I garden so our organic produce cost is less since I'm growing some of it.
I save money by making a list and sticking to it. And by staying away from stores. I used to go to Target when I got bored. Now I go to the park or the library.
The biggest way I save money is to do my grocery shopping with a list. Otherwise I would buy the whole store and still have nothing to eat for dinner.
We have started to get all of our movies from Redbox and using the online codes to get free movies. This has saved us a lot of money!
Also searching for great deals for magazines on the web instead of ordering on the little card included on the mag. I just got a years subscription for US Weekly for $5! I was so excited!
One of our biggest money savers is so simple... making a list before we go to the grocery store. If it isn't on the list, it doesn't go in the cart. Makes it a lot faster too!
I buy our clothes as they're going out of season. For instance, right now is when I buy winter/fall clothes because they are on sale at some great prices! Then I just save them for next year!
Coupons, coupons, coupons - that's what I do!
Would love this book - thanks!
My family has become more conscious of combining trips in the car. We have almost completely stopped using my husband's "gas gussler" truck.
Thank you for doing this giveaway.

I do coupons and usually save at least 60% off my grocery bill. I would love to find other ways to save money.
katie_mmartin (at) yahoo [dot] com
I think that the most important thing that I do is have a budget and stick to it. I feel that I can control what goes into each category and how it needs to be spent.
I also make sure that I plan out menus for the week and purchase only what I need. Yes, occassionally I will spurge and get a treat.
We keep a strict budget (okay, we could be more strict at times) and always try to cut back on dining out. Oh, and we're bargain shoppers too, always looking for the best deals :)
I shop garage sales for many of my kids' clothes.
I'm a freezer meal queen. I've got 4 girlfriends and we each choose 2 meals a month and we 5X the recipe. Then we get together and exchange. Been doing it over a year and we NEVER eat out anymore. I don't use half a container for a recipe and through the rest out because I know just make my specialties and use all the ingredients up. I can buy my food in bulk. Sounds like a great book. Thanks so much for the chance!
I would love to read this!
elkmeese at yahoo dot com
Believe it or not-becoming vegan has saved my husband and I a lot of money. Here's why, most prepackaged items are not vegan. So I have to buy a lot of different things to make my meals from scratch. Well, buying the components separately is not only cheaper I've found but I also get 2-3 meals out of them. Which sometimes means our dinner is around one dollar a night for the both of us. Plus, the food is delicious! Thanks.

I make a monthly menu plan, which has saved us a ton at the grocery store and made it so we don't eat as much. I'm always looking for little ways to cut expenses

One thing I do that saves our family money is to take my own pictures of my kids instead of using a studio. I love it, it's less stressful than dragging everyone to a studio, and we love the natural way that the photos turn out - really captures my kids' personalities :)
Neat giveaway - I hope I win!

Not very original, but I clip coupons and use GroceryGame.com to try to mximize them.
We've recently started planning our menu at least 2 or 3 weeks at a time.
I am learning to love coupons...it's a slow process, but it's going well. My email addy is in my blogger profile, just in case I win!
Love this idea! I clip coupons and subscribe to coupon sites. I buy a lot of our groceries on sale, and buy store brands of many foods. I'm sure this book could give me many ideas I haven't even thought of.

I shop at CVS using extra care bucks. Its an excellent way to stock up on toothpaste, razors, and bodywash. Thanks for the giveaway I'm trying to pay my bills down this would come in handy.
I love being frugal, so I'm always up for learning more tips. For now my strategy is "spend no money, ever."
i've always been a coupon clipper, less so now that i have a baby who takes up my clipping time, but i still never go to the grocery store or restaurant w/o a coupon, i also by clothes out of season - you can get stuff for like 90% off!

I'm in on this one (I've decided to sign up for only those giveaways I really need and/or like!). I'm a frugal housewife, trying to cut expenses to get ready for the retirement years ahead. I use coupons, do menu planning, hang my clothes out to dry instead of using my dryer and LOTS more. But DH's retirement is right around the corner and I have a 2nd mortage I'd really like to get paid off before he retires!
Coupons all the way! :D And Aldi and Costco shopping.

I am a coupon fanatic. I love to shop the deals...getting free things is SO much fun! I also plan my meals for the week so I can shop for those items.
I shop at the commissary and avoid quick trips to regular grocery stores! I spent way too much money just getting two or three things at the corner store!
This would be great, I'm trying so hard to save money. The biggest thing I've done lately is really look at the sale flyers and use coupons for things that are already on sale. It's amazing how much you can save if you pay attention to the sales.
I shop Harris Teeter when it is triple coupon weekend. There is nothing like getting 12 items for $2.00!
I shop at Publix they double coupons and I normally save about $30 each visit.
Looks like a great book! I shop the deals at CVS and use coupons!
I save money by making my own furniture polish. I'm helping out my family and the environment!
I bake most all of our bread and desserts from scratch - it saves a lot!
We eat out when Sonic has the "5 for 5" burger deal. We can feed out family of ten for twelve dollars!
Even though we live in the city, we raise our own chickens. Organic eggs in our back yard!
I've started buying fryer cut chicken and cooking it ahead of time instead of buying canned chicken or chicken breasts. Saves us a bunch of money!
I bone my chicken and use the carcass for stock. I also throw out (recycle) circulars without reading them - if I don't see it, I can't want it!
I make my own detergent, bought reusable thermal mugs instead of bottled water, clip coupons, and recently started going to the internet to find the cheapest gas in my area.

We have started planning our meals rather than waiting until 5:00 and saying "What's for dinner?" This has helped us because we don't get takeout very often now.
I try to save on groceries in a variety of ways - planning ahead based on what I have and what is on sale, clipping coupons but only the ones for products I use, buying generic brands. I do run around to stores but I schedule it when I am already going to be in the area so I am not wasting time and gas.
Now if only I was as thrifty in other areas I would be all set.
I'd love to win this book!!!! I always try to save when I can and this would help!
My main thing is coupons and matching them with sales, usually @ CVS & Publix, but I do Walmart & Target too - especially with frees and overage! I also sign up for samples and freebies - can use as back up and coupons sometimes come with them!

Whenever we want to buy a big ticket item, we check on craigslist and ebay to see if anyone is selling one used. I get a LOT of nice things that way.
hmm well we try to cut expenses by trying not to go out to eat as much and cooking more at home...
I am a coupon freak! Plus, I plan all our shopping Sunday night and we get it all done Monday to save money on gas. I'm going to start biking with the kids and bury them in groceries if gas prices keep rising!!
I make a menu plan and grocery list and stick to it. I can't tell you how much money I wasted before I started doing this!! I would love to have this book! cookiecutter72 AT hotmail dot com
The biggest think I do is shop primarily at consignments shops. I hardly ever buy clothing new anymore (well except for the unmentionables)!
I love Aldi's!!! and triple coupons!
I am the lady no one will get behind at the grocery store because of my handfull of coupons. This is my contribution to my family saving - also I love online deals.

I buy all of my clothes with coupons online. It saves a lot of cash throughout the year.
would love to read this book
I use coupons
I've learned some great tips from everyone's comments. So far, I clip alot of coupons...but not so good about redeeming them. Thanks for all the motivation!
I'm trying to cook from scratch a lot more. No more expensive prepackaged foods!
joyful.miller at gmail dot com
Thrift store shopping! It is amazing what you can find.
With gas prices so high, I am doing car pooling with a friend or my mom, or MIL. Sometimes we all go together! Really helps for shopping as the stores are 25 miles away from us. I also use florescent bulbs, save for freebie coupons (such as coke rewards right now), I recycle cans, bags, and bottles. I like to create/paint used items to make them into new. Hmmm . . .I am sure there is more. Just can't think of them.
Hugs
Renee
One thing I do to help save me family money is buy fruits and vegs. thru our "co-op" some ladies at church do.
One thing we do to save money is buying used clothes. A bag sale ($2-$3 for a bagful of clothes)is great!
well, I never pay full price for anything. I make my own babyfood and do the CVS thing and use coupons. I look forward to reading your blog for more ideas.

I would love to read this. I could really use some more tips.
I recently started couponing & I'm surprised by how fun it is. For years I said, "I'd rather spend the extra dollar than be bothered to clip and keep track of the coupons." But someone introduced me to a simple system, and as you probably know, saving money can be addicting!
I use coupons of course and shop on double coupon days. I also do refunding and rebates, and save the points from everything.

i like to shop at thrift stores and try not to by processed food
I shop the ads & then buy all my purchases (or at least as many as possible) at ONE store that accept competitors coupons/ads.
We walk (instead of drive) as often as possible, hang laundry out on the line when the weather allows, and plan menus to minimize waste.
Saving the planet and money!
I need all the money-saving tips I can get, since prices are going up, up, up, and my company seems determined not to give anyone raises or bonuses.
I've cut down the amount of times we eat out and it has saved us a ton of money! Also, I limit my grocery shopping to once a week so I have to plan ahead and shop the sales.
I am coupon clipping fanatic. You can save alot of money if you take the time out to clip coupons and plan out your shopping trips. Great giveaway, thanks! hellomary018 at yahoo dot com
We buy in bulk on sale and store items for use. It saves a lot!
Brittany
Every weekend, we cook a ton of extra food and then freeze it in individual portions, so we have a quick dinner available if we're too lazy to cook one night, we have fast lunches that my husband can grab on his way out the door and I can eat at home with minimal fuss. That way we're not so tempted to go out or get delivery...which was a major problem for us before, as we are often too tired out during the week to make a good dinner.
Thanks for the giveaway! =)
I make my own laundry detergent, household cleaners, and I match ads.
Oh ~ I want to win! Pick me, please!
Thanks for the chance to win.

I use coupons and am a bargain hunter especially when it come to buying clothing for me and my kids, and we love yardsales. Thanks for the giveaway.
Well since we moved to a new state we don't have a military commisary now so I clip coupons. I have still been paying like almost 2x's a much as before though. We combine car trips for errands and try to only shop once a week.
I bring lunch to work every day and bring water from my britta pitcher instead of buying. Thank you.
Goodwill rocks, if you know how to treasure hunt you can find lightly used quality clothes for less then you spend at places like Wal-Mart =) it's also a great place for people who like to remake clothes because a touch of ingenuity can go a long way in taking an out of style piece of clothing with great fabric and turning it into something fabulous that can compete with expensive designers and brand names who get all their clothes made in sweatshops with shoddy materials.
i clip coupons every week and frequent freecycle.
We work really hard at buying groceries when they are on sale. My daughter is great about checking the weekly circulars from the stores to find the products we use when they are on sale.
We use cloth diapers, and cloth wipes and hang them to dry.
We use coupons and bargin shop. We use freecycle and get hand-me-down clothes all the time.
I prepare low cost meals at home saving us the exspense of eating out.
Thank you for the great giveaway!

Freecycle and food pantry! Also, we try to take advantage of the free deals and points given at most pharmacies.

This is great! I love learning how to save money and budget better. I take a lot of clues from Ellie Kay's book. One of the things I watch for there are what things to buy in what month-what things are cheaper a certain time of year and in a certain month. I also like learning tips on living wisely on one income. We go to $2.50 movies, we eat before we get there so that we can avoid the expensive snack foods there, we do freebie family entertainment by going to the park more, having game nights at home, and involving ourselves in programs at church. They don't cost a thing and everybody grows by leaps and bounds!!
I save money by shopping at thrift stores for my kids. They grow so fast that I'm buying them a whole new wardrobe at least twice a year! So we've saved tons (plus I find lots of adorable name brand clothes that look practically new... no one would ever know my secret). :-)
I started 2 yrs ago to cut expenses by picking one thing a month we currently do & trying to make it cheaper..for example..we had been a cutomer ( still are) of Direct Tv..they are always offering deals to new poeple..so I called to see what they would offer a 10 yr customer! lol..they gave us $10 off each month for 3 months! YIPPEE! I still am working on this plus adding more ways to help with finances.
Thank you for this opportunity!

Shop frugally! Always take advantage of sales and clearances! And use coupons whenever we can!
I'd love to read the tips this book has to offer!
If I do eat out I look for the best deals. I always ask myself before I buy an item if I can live with out this for 3 months.
With the cost of propane skyrocketing this year - the first month this winter we used $754 worth just for heat! That's all we use it for. So . . we put on sweatshirts. And covered up with blankets. Put extra blankets on our bed. Set the timer on the thermostat. And put plastic on the windows that were leaking. We were able to save approximately 20% the next month (even though the price per gallon went up a few cents).
I cut coupons...I know it's simple but it works!
I'd love to win this! Now that I am a business owner and our income just depends on how my business does, I need to cut expenses!
I clip and use coupons, I shop only with a list and I plan meals. I shop Rite Aid and Walgreens and utilize their rebate programs when possible.
Great giveaway! :)
I pay off credit card expenses every month, and I try to shop (groceries) only once a week and otherwise stay out of stores altogether. I'm so much better off when I don't "know what I'm missing..."
I have been giving my boys haircuts at home for years. I estimate that so far, I have saved our family about $3,500!! (over about 7 years)

We pay cash -- or we do without. Ok hasn't been bad anytime recently, but when we were newly married it was very hard -- and when the kids came along, that was hard --- but now, we have gotten used to it. And in the process saved all those interest dollars for retirement!
I do many little things like give my boys haircuts, use coupons religiously, I try and plan my route driving so I don't use up too much gas. As a stay at home homeschool parent I could really use this book to get more ideas! Thanks!
I try to only go to the grocery once a week!
I make my own mayo. $3 a jar is too much. I cut my kids/hubby's hair. We are learning edible landscaping. plant a vegetable garden every year
we use coupons whenever possible and always wait to buy things when they're on sale.
I read a lot of blogs and gain helpful advice from my fellow frugal friends!
We also clip a lot of coupons, stock up on sales, and try to shop smart.
Always looking for new ways to save. With a family of 5, it's a never-ending challenge!
