Restaurant.com Gift Certificates

If you're like us, you generally don't eat out unless you have coupons, or a gift certificate. In this case, you get both.

When you buy gift certificates at Restaurant.com, you only pay a portion of the price--for example, $10 for a $25 gift certificate. That's cheap enough that not only are they good gifts, but they're a great way to save money if you dine out yourself.

Now, even though they're gift certificates, the catch is that they have terms and conditions, and you'll want to read the terms on yours carefully. The terms are set by the participating restaurants, and can vary greatly. For example, you may find a $10 gift certificate for $3, but the rule is you have to spend $20 or more. That still works out to almost half off. Others are only valid Sunday through Thursday.

What are the terms for the restaurants in your area? You'll have to visit Restaurant.com to find out. Just punch in your zip code and you'll see all the options and all the terms and conditions before you without having to register for anything.

Check 'em out before you dine out.

Teach Kids About Saving Money With Snigglezoo Entertainment

It's a frustrating fact of life that schools just don't teach about saving money. If kids are going to learn about money and saving, it's going to have to happen at home.

Fortunately, the folks at Snigglezoo Entertainment have put together some products that can help. They've got a DVD with signing monkeys teaching kids about the value of saving. And let's be honest--what's not to love about singing monkeys.

You may have seen them before--lots of credit unions have started using The Money Mammals as mascots to help kids understand money and saving.

They've also got an "Allowance Magic" program about how to turn allowance into a great teaching experience.

The best part, too, for a guy at a blog called "Let's Save Some Money" is that nothing in the store is over $20.00.

So go check 'em out.

Bloggy Giveaway

Bloggy Giveaways Quarterly Carnival Button

This is my first time participating in the Bloggy Giveaway carnival. Last time I won something so I thought that this time I would give something away myself!

How it works is really simple, you leave a comment about one thing that you do to help save your family money. I will then randomly choose a winner on April 27th. What do you win? You win the book 1001 Ways To Cut Your Expenses by Jonathan D. Pond.

You don't have to be a blogger to win, just make sure that you leave an email address so I can contact you if you win! Because of the cost of shipping I am going to have to limit this to giveaway to U.S. participants only.

That's it, pretty simple! Just don't forget to leave a comment about one thing you do to help save your family money (no "please enter me," or "I want to win," etc.)--if you don't you won't be entered to win.

Also don't forget to check out my other blogs for more chances to win more FREE stuff!

Learn The Basics Of Stock Investing

I thought some of you might be interested in this post on How a Beginner Can Learn About The Stock Market. It offers a six-step program for how to go from knowing nothing about the market to knowing enough to buy your first few stocks.

Remember our creed: The real way to save money is not by simply spending a little less--it's by putting money away in places that make you money.

Save on Hooked On Phonics

One of the things that scared me the most about homeschooling when we first decided to home school, was how was I going to teach my girls how to read. I don't remember learning how to read, I've been reading as far back as I can remember. My husband was reading by the time he was four so he was no help either.

Reading was a big concern for Erik and I, we are both avid readers. And we honestly have more books in our small two-bedroom apartment than anything else. We have more bookcases than any of other furniture added together, and we still do not have enough shelf space to hold all our books! Our dream house consists of a large library type room filled from ceiling to floor with books.

Also, we felt that if they can master reading then they will be able to master anything else that they will want to. As long as you can read you can learn anything.

Then my mother-in-law wanting to support us in our decision, purchased the complete Deluxe Hooked On Phonics system for us. Well, we have been using it now for 1 1/2 years and let me tell you, it has worked with our girls! They are reading and loving it! Thanks Mom!

Save Money On Your Groceries

A few weeks I did a post about about the Grocery Game, which is a great site if you have the couple extra dollars a month in your grocery budget to afford the membership.

If you are on a very restrictive budget than you might want to consider using this new site that I have just found and am going to try out the next couple of months. It is called My Grocery Deals, and it is a FREE service. You can search the local store's ads. Just put in your zip code and they pull up the stores in your area. Not all stores are listed but they do have a pretty close to complete list.

They then tell you what is on sale at the stores, unlike the Grocery Game they do not tell you what coupons and discounts will give you the best deals, so you do end up doing a little more legwork yourself. Hence, why My Grocery Deals is FREE while the Grocery Game will cost you a couple of bucks.

Check them out yourself and see which one is the best fit for you and your family!

Save Money On Video Rentals

We love movies at our house. If we were able to afford it, we would go out to the movies every week. But, as it stands now we simply can not afford that luxury. So, how do we still enjoy movies? We rent them.

We have done almost every movie rental company, brick and mortar store, as well as online. Our favorite pick is Blockbuster! Why? You get movies sent to your house for one monthly fee, you keep the movie as long as you want and then send it back in a prepaid envelope. But what we love the most is that you also have the option of taking your movie to the brick and mortar Blockbuster storefront and exchange it for any movie in the store for FREE! Yes, you read that right, for FREE! And on top of getting a movie for FREE you also get a new movie sent out to you from your queue on line. How great is that?

How does Blockbuster Total Access's price compare to other online rental companies, well it's basically the same price. Plus you get the added bonus of being able to exchange the movie in-store as well.

How does Blockbuster Total Access's price compare to other brick and mortar stores special customer programs and rewards, again it's basically the same. Plus you get the added bonus of having the online.

So, you see you basically get two great offers in one!

And now you can get your first month of Blockbuster's Total Access for half the price! What could be better? Try it and see if you don't agree with us!
